Driver Training Print

The club offers basic driver training approximately six times per year and an advanced driver training course once per year.

The club has a 4WD Training Officer who is a member of the executive committee and an Assistant 4WD Training Officer who is an Officer Bearer. Both positions are voluntary and are elected by the members at the AGM in October each year.

To satisfy club bylaws and the club’s insurance, all new members are required to complete the 4WD Introduction and Driver Training Course before participating in 4WD club events or 4WD trips. This rule applies to both experienced and in-experienced four-wheel drivers.

The courses are run approximately every two months or as demand requires. The maximum number for each course is around eight and the minimum required is five.

The course consists of two parts, a Theory Night and a Practical Weekend in the bush. The theory must be completed before the practical weekend. If you have dual membership then each person must do the practical training on different weekends.

The theory night starts at 7:00pm and finishes around 11:00pm and is normally held at the 4WD Training Officer’s house on the Tuesday night prior to the practical weekend. Participants are invited to bring their partners to the theory night but no children please.
